This Little Light Of Mine I'm Gonna' Let It Shine

Philippians 2:14-16 "Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain."

-We are to shine "in the world" (Verse 15).

-We are to shine "in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation (generation)." Verse 15 describes this generation as "crooked."

It is in the midst of this terrible darkness that we are to shine for the Lord both in public and in private.

In verse 14 we are told of two things that fog up our lamps, and in verses 15 and 16 of five characteristics of a life that is brightly shining for the Lord.

We as believers shine:
-By not "murmuring"-Verse 14
-By not "disputing"-Verse 14
-By being "blameless"-Verse 15
-By being "harmless"-Verse 15
-By being "without rebuke"-Verse 15.
-By "holding forth the Word of life"-Vverse 16.
-By living in the light of "the day of Christ"-Verse 16.

Remember, a lamp does not attract people to itself-it is the light that attracts people who are in the midst of darkness.

That's why I want my little light to shine!
-First, that God the Father may be glorified.

-Secondly, that the Lord Jesus may be magnified. To magnify a thing is to make it appear bigger, and Christians, by their shining witness, are to make the Lord Jesus appear "big" before the world.

-Last, but not least, that sinners may see the love of Christ in me.

Are you letting your light shine today?
