Soberly

Romans 12:3 "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."

Self-control is not an easy thing to accomplish. It's much easier to go overboard than it is to stay inside the safety of the ship. Paul is simply saying we need to exercise self-control and not put ourselves in a position where we think more of ourselves than we should.

-We should have confidence, but not arrogance.

-We should have our own opinions, but not flaunt them over others.

-We should hold ourselves accountable, but not judge others with a better-than-thou-attitude.

-We should let that measure of faith given to us be our marker, but not become our scapegoat.

If we who believe would be the Christians that we should be then sinners would not have any excuse to stay away from us or the church. The only difference between us and them is the blood of Jesus and regardless of the time, if they accept Him it will change them as well.

So understand who you are in Jesus and think soberly-it can make a difference in your world and in the world of others as well.
