Winning The Battle Over Your Mind (Part 1)

Winning The Battle Over Your Mind (Part 1)

Romans 8:5, 6 "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

I’ve written about this before and I’ll write it again, your mind is your ultimate battleground:

-It’s the space where the greatest and most fierce conflicts take place.

-It’s where over half the things you thought were going to happen never actually happen.

-It’s where your resistance buries you with negativity about your life and your future with thoughts of your defeats from the past.

-It's where you allow these thoughts to dwell in your mind and they gradually succeed in robbing you of peace, joy, and ultimately your life.  You think yourself right into nervous breakdowns and bouts of depression, time and again.

There’s so much about your lives and future you can’t control, that it makes absolutely no sense to focus all your energy on these things and then neglect everything you can control.
-You can decide how you spend our time right now, what you choose to focus on, and with whom you share your energy with.
-You can choose our words and the tone of voice in which you speak to ourselves and others.
-You can decide what you will engage in, read and study next.
-You can choose how you’re going to respond to challenging life situations when they arise, and whether you will see them as curses or opportunities for growth.
-You can choose your attitude, which influences pretty much everything else.

None of us are immune to occasional mood swings, but that doesn’t mean we have to succumb to them.  Whether your negative attitude is a common occurrence or just an occasional phenomenon, it’s critical for your long-term happiness and success that you choose to recognize when your mind is in the gutter, and then consciously make adjustments.
