I was fortunate to have a precious grandmother who did the same for me. Becky never got to really know her grandparents like I did, so what she's doing is on the fly. I believe that God just put a natural instinct into the heart of a grandmother to be what she should be for her grandkids, and if anybody fills that role it's my wife. She's the best grandmother I know.
It is with that in mind that I share these few thoughts about grandmothers. I'm sure many of you can see the application to the grandmother that you love. May this bring a little joy and a lot of appreciation to the tireless job you do for your grandchildren.
-Grandmothers are moms with lots of frosting.
-Grandmothers are just 'antique' little girls.
-A grandmother is a babysitter who watches the kids instead of the television.
-Becoming a grandmother is wonderful. One moment you're just a mother. The next you are all-wise and prehistoric.
-Grandmothers always make you feel she had been waiting to see just you all day and when she does the day was complete.
-Grandmothers never run out of hugs or cookies.
-Grandmothers hold our tiny hands for just a little while, but our hearts forever.
-It's such a grand thing to be a mother of a mother-that's why the world calls her grandmother.
-You do not really understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother.
-Grandmother-grandchild relationships are simple. Grandmas are short on criticism and long on love.
-Grandmother-a wonderful mother with lots of practice.
-If your baby is 'beautiful and perfect, never cries or fusses, sleeps on schedule and burps on demand, an angel all the time,' you're the grandma.
If becoming a grandmother was only a matter of choice, I would advise every one of you mothers straight away to become one. There is no fun for old people like it!
