I was watching Jimmy Swaggart yesterday in a crusade from the old Charlotte Coliseum that took place in April 1985. I was sitting on stage with other pastors who helped sponsor the crusade. 27 years ago he preached on the compromise of Pentecost before the coming of the Lord. He also spoke about the rapture and being ready for the judgment. The altar was full of people seeking God when he have the invitation.
I have seen several of his sermon points come to pass in the last 27 years. These are just a few of the things he said:
-Many have grown cold in their relationship and commitment to God.
-We are still fighting over what kind of music we ought to sing in church.
-People have grown disrespectful of the pastor and the ministries of the local.
I could go on about even more that he preached. The thing that amazes me most is just how merciful God is to give us opportunities to repent. 27 years ago the message was repent and it's still the message today. The only difference between then and now is that people received and responded to it back then more than now.
I don't think the Lord is going to wait another 27 years. The Bible tells us to seek the Lord while He may be found and to call upon Him while He is near. So if you don't know Jesus repent today. You will find out it's worth it in the end.
