May The Best Team Win

The circus catch that David Tyree made against his helmet in the last Giants/Patriots Super Bowl, helped him to all kinds of endorsements, book deals, and Christian television appearances. I have watched that play over and over again. Although spectacular in appearance, it was very questionable if it was a true completion or not. Yet that one play, right or wrong, proved to be the difference for the Giants in their winning touchdown drive that beat the Patriots that night and stopped their bid for an undefeated season.

I have heard all week long about how the Giants are the favorites, how their defense will dominate, and how their offense is going to rip the Patriot's defense to shreds. I have heard on the Sirius NFL channel about how hot the Giants are and how ready they are to make the Patriots look bad. I have heard how this will be Eli's defining moment to pass his brother Peyton.

I don't think it's going to happen like that.

Tomorrow's Super Bowl will be a rematch between the Giants and the Patriots, but I don't believe the results will be the same as their last two meetings. I was hoping for  an all Harbaugh Super Bowl-49ers VS Ravens-but that didn't happen. Honestly, I still believe the 49ers were the best team in the NFC Championship game, but Mr. Williams (knee) muffed kick return and fumbled punt return stopped them from winning. It's a cliche, but the best team doesn't always win. Ask the Packers, who lost to the Giants the week before, or even the Saints who lost to my Niners that same. One or two plays can make a difference and the best team doesn't always win. All three NFC favorites found that out and thus the Giants return to the Super Bowl

It was the same in the AFC Championship game, where a dislodged reception in the end zone or the missed field goal could have made the difference in Ravens beating or tying the Patriots. Tom Brady had a horrible game for a QB of his stature, but the Patriots defense played like they wanted to win and they did. I still believe Houston could have made some more noise if their QB injuries had not taken a toll on their offense, but it wasn't to be. The Patriots, after 4 dismal playoff losses, are the AFC Champs again.

So now we have the Giants VS the Patriots again. Only this time I hope the best team will win.

-I believe that Tom Brady will place himself in Elite Company and make up for his showing against the Ravens.
Tom Brady had a hero growing up just like everyone does. His hero was Joe Montana, 4-Time Super Bowl winning QB and 3-Time MVP. This will be the game that establishes Brady's legacy as he ties the Greatest QB ever with wins and MVP's.

-I believe in the little guys-Wes Welker, Deion Branch, Danny Woodhead, and Julian Edelman.
I believe they will shine tomorrow against the NYG defense and offense in Edelman's case. Their quickness will be the difference.

-The Patriots defense has something to prove not only to themselves but to a doubting nation. Love them or hate them, they have been consistent winners for a long, long time due to their defense. They showed up against the Broncos and Ravens, and they will show up tomorrow. Eli may get some yards, but the turnovers will be in New England's favor.

Yes, the Giants will have the crowd behind them because the Colts fans don't like the Patriots at all. Many have already given the game to the Giants. Yet, it still must be played.

Oh and don't forget, Gronk will show up and show out.

Patriots-35  Giants-28

May the best team win!
