The Lies of War (Part 5)

The Lies of War (Part 5)

The devil has no power over you except what you permit him to have.  That's a powerful yet very true fact we need to hold on to.

Satan cannot make you sin. He can lie, deceive, and tempt you to sin, but he has no power over your will. One of the most powerful things God has given you is your will. Unless you yield your will to Satan, he cannot have any power over you.

-He cannot make you lose your temper.

-He cannot make you steal.

-He cannot make you commit adultery.

-He cannot make you sin against God.

-He cannot blot your name out of the Book of Life.

You were delivered out of Satan’s dominion when you were born again and you are now living in the Kingdom of God.  God has “...delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” according to Colossians 1:13.

As the ruler of darkness and the god of this world, Satan controls unbelievers who yield their wills to him.  2 Timothy 2:26 tells us they are taken captive by him at his will and he blinds their minds to the Gospel. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:4:

“…the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

Yet Satan does not have power over you, as a believer. You are no longer under Satan’s dominion.  He has no power over you unless you yield your will to him. Paul told the Romans:

Romans 6:16-19 "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness…even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness."

Your will is a strong force given you by God.  One of Satan's  major strategies is to attack your will, take control of it, and then cause you to yield to his plans instead of doing God’s will.  You make a choice in this war and the devil can only seize control of your mind if you yield it to him. You are not his helpless victim.  You must willingly yield yourself to him in order for him to seize control.

Don't fall prey to his lie. You know by God's Word that Satan has no power over you except what you allow him to have.  Choose to believe God, and the war for your mind, body, and soul is won by the truth of God's promise. Believe and receive in Jesus Name!
