Invasion! (Part 5)

Invasion! (Part 5)

Satan counterattacks every offensive move made by believers. When you decide to pray more, study the Word of God more intensely, or enter into a new ministry, he will immediately stage a counterattack to prevent you from advancing in these areas.

There are basically three forms of attack. Similar attacks are launched by the enemy in the spiritual world.

-A frontal attack, which the devil rarely uses because he knows your prepared for that.

These are direct attacks.  The temptation of Jesus in the wilderness by Satan in Matthew 4:3-11 was an example of a frontal attack.  These direct spiritual assaults can be met by resisting them with the Word of God which causes Satan to flee.

-A siege or blockade.

A siege or blockade in the natural world is when the enemy takes control of territory that does not belong to him. Spiritual invasion is similar to a siege or blockade in the natural world. The enemy breaks down your defenses and part of your life is brought under his control.  He does not actually possess you, but he prevents you from functioning properly and righteously in certain areas.  For example, he may seize control of your fleshly appetites, your finances, or your emotions.

The way to deal with a spiritual siege or blockade is by using the powers of binding and loosing, which I wrote about several days ago. God has given you the keys to stop the invasion.  The enemy must be bound in the area where he has seized control and the Holy Spirit loosed by those keys to fill any void.

Matthew 1:9

"And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

-Invasion and occupation.

When an enemy invades in the natural world, he occupies and controls a territory. This is similar to the devil in the spiritual world.   A Christian can be oppressed by the enemy, but Satan cannot take possession because the Holy Spirit lives within a true believer and the two cannot coexist.  However, the invasion of compromise and false doctrine can enslave an individual with a heritage of solid spiritual foundation. An unsaved or backslidden person is usually the target of demonic possession.  The way to deal with this type of attack is to bind the enemy and cast him out:

Mark 3:27 "No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house."

Stop the invasion in Jesus Name! Don't let good intentions be mixed with ungodly expectations!
