The Negative Zone (Part
4)
Philippians 2:5 “Let this mind be in you,
which was also in Christ Jesus…”
Negativity always tells
you your not qualified, you don’t fit in because you don’t have enough, and you
always have to be right. Those three areas will destroy the peace and
tranquility Jesus wants you to have. That’s why it’s so important to have the
mind of Christ.
Stop believing that you
should be more qualified before you take the next step in whatever.
Taking the next step is what builds your confidence. Meditate on that for
a moment, and then force yourself forward. You don’t need to have it all
mapped out. You don’t need to feel “ready.” You just need to get
started and make “starting” a daily ritual. Learn to start every day
before you feel ready and God will learn teach you how to succeed, step by
step, before you even realize that you’re qualified enough.
Let go of the thoughts that you need more and more of
everything. Simplify wherever and whenever
possible. Clear the clutter in your physical and mental space.
Instead of figuring out how to make ends meet, work on having fewer ends. Don’t sell your sanity
to the impulse of acquiring things
that you don’t need in your life. Learn to say “no!” When you
simplify and live comfortably below your means, mentally and physically, you
ultimately enjoy a freedom that people busy upgrading their lifestyles and
schedules can’t even fathom.
Let go of the thoughts that you will always be right. This kind of thinking is a tragedy, and will cause you to
always be on guard. Don’t just look for data that confirms what you think
is right. Be willing to be wrong and be willing to learn. Be
mindful, humble and teachable. There’s always room for a new perspective or
a new
beginning. Life changes
every second, and so can you. You’re being right all the time is not the end of
the world.
We can train our minds to make the best of the present moment as
it unfolds with the help of the Lord. Letting go of the negative zone is
one of the simplest and most powerful starting points for doing this. If
you’re struggling with any of this, know that you are not alone. Many of
us are right there with you, working hard to feel better, think more clearly,
and keep our lives and relationships on track. This is something you can
do when you live in a world filled with negativity. Let the mind of Christ be
in you and start fresh each and every day. No, it’s not easy, but help is
available if you ask.
