It's Okay To Dwell On the Past

Some good things about my childhood that I remember as a boomer born in 1953:
-Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Trigger, Trigger, Jr., Buttermilk, and Bullit. Heroes were heroes and you could identify them.

-Davy Crockett, Wonderful World of Disney, and the Micky Mouse Club. Yes, I fell in love with Annette like every other boy did back then, had Mouse ears, and a Coon Skin cap. Man, those were the good old days!

-5 cent cokes, penny bubble gum, 5 cent Krystal Burgers. A drink, candy bar, and bag of chips for less than a quarter.

-1964 1/2 Ford Mustang-I rode in my first one at the age of 11 and been in love with them ever since.

-I wanted to be a Vet, a Texas Ranger, own a horse, and have a farm.

- I loved the Comic book heroes and still do even until this day.

It's okay to dwell on the past, but not the negative past. Don't dwell on the pain or sadness of yesterday, but dwell on the good. Be consumed by past joys and obsessed with gratitude. Dwell upon the moments that uplifted you, the times you laughed and the memories of love shown to you by friends and family.

Not everything should be remembered, and those who live well know what to forget and what to cherish. There ain't no future in the past, but there is joy there. There is also love and kindness in yesterday if we choose to remember it.

Hold on to the things that were precious yesterday and let go of the bad things that still handicapp your future. Only you can make sure tomorrow is better for you, but reliving the good times of yesterday.

It's okay to dwell on the past-use it for fuel to help someone else develop good memories today.
