Pleasing God

Colossians 1:10 “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;”
Many people have meltdowns over very small inconveniences and only want what's best for them.  You will end up very disappointed if you expect people will always do for you as you do for them. Not everyone has the same heart as you do or the same mindset. Yet even the most unfortunate situations you face don't have to steal your happiness or pollute your spirit.
Let go of the needless stress weighing you down from trying to be everything to everyone. This is a new hour of your life and life will continue to surprise you with changes, one way or the other.  So you might as well make positive transitions going forward and realize the one you have to answer for at the judgement is yourself and you alone.
Aren’t you tired of dealing with the same type of headaches and heartaches over and over and over again trying to measure up to other's expectations? If you are then:
-Focus on purging any negative habits as you begin anew for your benefit not to please others.
-Focus on learning from your mistakes rather than be conquered by them.
-Focus on letting your errors be of commission rather than omission.
You ultimately become what you repeatedly do.  If your daily habits aren’t helping you, they’re hurting you. So from this day forward  press forward praising God. Love Him, love people, and do the best you can in spite of what people do to you. One day you'll be glad you did.

Steps

Psalms 37:23 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”
Isn’t it strange how life works?
You want something and you work for it and wait for it and work for it and wait for it, and you feel like it’s taking forever to arrive.  Then it happens and it’s over and all you want to do is curl back up in that moment before things changed.
So, how can you avoid these feelings of loss and confusion?
-By being more present every step of the way. Pursue your goals and dreams while at the same time enjoying the journey of getting there.  God has ordered your steps.
-Embrace the steps you’re taking, even when you feel like you’ve lost your footing. Sometimes your road gets bumpy.  Every step doesn’t have to be comfortable or perfectly placed.
-By letting go of what “should” happen or what “could” happen every step of the way, you free up your life to what God has in store for you.  You may not lead the exact life you desired, but you will lead a meaningful, miraculous existence, guaranteed because God is with you and guiding your steps.
Life is often difficult, but it’s not a chore.  It's an adventure, so feel good about the steps you’re taking right now as directed by God. Do so and you’ll smile all the way to eternity.
Psalms 17:5 “Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.”

“Bridges That Don’t Exist”

Proverbs 12:25 "Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

NKJV “Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.”

CEV “Worry is a heavy burden, but a kind word always brings cheer.”

The Message “Worry weighs us down; a cheerful word picks us up.”

We often cross bridges that haven’t been built over waters that don’t flow through valley’s that don’t exist!  In fact, search the Internet using the phrase “Americans worried.” Immediately you will discover pages of insights into the things that keep American’s stomachs tied in knots!  Americans are worried about cybercrime, retirement, corporate wrongdoing, homeland security, health care coverage, nursing shortages, money and personal safety. There is no shortage of worry!
In a survey of 1000 adults, researchers studied people who lose sleep because of worry. Over a two week period, these sleepless souls spent 22 hours worried about money and 9.5 hours worried about national security.  Also among those who couldn’t sleep, 15.5 hours was spent worrying about the safety of family members. American’s need the freedom from worry that God’s grace can provide!

We are easily burdened down with the worries of this world.  In the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego we find three men who could face the worst situations with a personal peace.  If we can apply these four lessons we will learn from their experience to our personal lives, we too can have God’s personal peace. We need this personal peace instead of worrying about bridges that we may never have to cross.

-We must make decisions based on principles, not practicalities or personalities.                                                                                                                       Daniel 3:16 “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.”
What if these three men had made decisions based on practicalities and personalities?

Their decision to stand tall was noble, but not practical. King Nebuchadnezzar was a formidable figure to stand against and a fiery furnace was nothing to laugh about.                                                              Had these three made their decision based on practicalities or personalities, they would have bowed with the rest of the crowd. So when the “heat was on,” the three men had no decision to make, only a decision to act upon.

The Bible is a book of principles. If we learn and apply biblical principles we will be freed from the worry of “heat of the moment” decision making.

-We must die to self so that we can deal with the worst reality rather than a make-believe monster.
The three men were believing in a miracle that would save their lives: Daniel 3:17 “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.” The three men had prepared themselves for God choosing a different outcome by dying to self in advance of the crisis.  Having died to self, they were prepared to die for God’s honor.Daniel 3:18 “But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

-We must learn to walk in the presence of God in good times so God will walk in your presence in bad times.
The outcome of this story is amazing because of the presence and power of God:                                                                                                                 Daniel 3:26, 27 “Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire. And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.”
-The presence and power of God was with the three men long before they were in the fiery furnace;

Daniel 1:17 “As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”

Do you expect God to be with you in the tough times when you do not rely on His presence in the good times?

-We must make it our desire to give the praise and glory to God.
The three young men were willing to die for God’s glory:
Daniel 3:28 “Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!”

A desire to give God glory will enable you to trust God in the midst of great adversity.

David had this desire:                                                                                            1 Samuel 17:46 “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

Paul had this same desire:                                                                                                                   1 Corinthians 2:2 “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”

Remember these 5 simple things about bridges that don’t exist:
(1) You are not alone in facing them.

(2) Always make choices concerning situations based on principle, and not on people or appearances.

(3) Avoid making hasty decisions. Don’t hurry yourself. Remember that making the right decision at the wrong time is as bad as choosing the wrong alternative at the right time.

(4) Look with the eyes of faith before making a molehill into a mountain.

(5) Accept that you are not a perfect person, and that you cannot perfectly handle every situation; but you will make an attempt to trust the Lord in every way possible to help you through.

When You’re Down To Nothing

When you're alone and down to nothing, Just what then can you do?
You can totally know this for sure, Now God can take care of you!

When you yourself, can get you out, No need for God to show.
It's when you're down to nothing, That's when He helps you grow!

There is one thing you can depend on, You must always be obedient.
If He says, "Do this, or do that." Better do it! - It's expedient!

After you've done your very best, But you still need lots of aid.
Don't let fear rule your heart, There's no need to be afraid!

God is always there to show up, Just when you're most in need.
If you're really down to nothing ...Here comes you rescue - Yes, indeed!

Awareness Of God

Psalms 23:4  “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, stop and decide if you want to be a prisoner of your past or a pioneer of your present.

In order to gain control of what goes on in your mind, you need to develop an awareness of God's presence in every situation.  Hold still for a moment, take a deep breath and free your mind of all the noise that’s going on inside you and all around you. This makes room for a change of your reactions and allows God the opportunity to intervene.

From the awareness of your thoughts and emotions thru Jesus you grow capable of redirecting your focus on positive things.  It’s time to take your mind willingly away from anything that drags you down and zero it in on something that inspires you.  Focus on your next meaningful step.  There are no hopeless situations, but there are people who have grown hopeless about them.

Your perception creates your beliefs, your beliefs create your behaviors, and your behaviors produce your experience.  That’s why you must sort through your thoughts carefully, and choose to respond only to those that will help you build the life God wants you to live and the outlook you want to hold as you’re living it. It will be worth it in the end.

New Horizens

Isaiah 43:19  “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

There’s so much you can let go of in life without losing a thing.  It’s called growth.

-Letting go of old ideas makes way for new opportunities.

-Letting go of what isn’t working makes way for what will.

When the pain of holding on is worse than the pain of letting go, it’s time to let go and grow.  In other words, start subtracting the habits, routines and thoughts that are holding you back.  You cannot discover new territories unless you build up enough courage to lose sight of the old and familiar.

Forgiveness is a vital part of this process.  Forgiveness doesn’t always lead to healed relationships and situations.  Some relationships and situations aren’t meant to be.  Forgive anyway and let what’s meant to be, be.  Go ahead and set yourself free.  When you hold resentment toward another individual you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel.  Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and break free.

It’s time to stop expecting everything outside you to change, and instead focus on changing yourself from within. When you do so and you may quickly find the peace of mind that has always eluded you.  God is ready to do a new thing within you. Are you ready to let Him?

The Meaning We Create

Philippians 2:5  “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:”

Most of the ills we suffer are directly traceable to our own attitude.  Life is packed full of uncontrollable events and in many situations the only thing we can control is the attitude we choose to respond with.

When you really take the time to think about it, everything happening around us is neutral and meaningless until the point that we give it meaning.  And the questions we ask ourselves drive the meaning we create and the attitude we have about everything.

Regardless of what you’re going though, it’s about choosing:

-Will I allow this to upset me?

-Will I choose to make this bad or good?

-Will I choose to stay or walk away?

-Will I choose to yell or whisper?

-Will I choose to react or take the time to respond?

When people come to you feeling down about a situation they can’t control, just tell them the truth. Sometimes changing your situation isn’t possible or simply not possible soon enough.  You can’t get a new job in an instant.  You can’t make someone else change against his or her will.  You certainly can’t erase the past, but  you can always choose an attitude that moves you forward.  By doing so you change things from the inside out, and ultimately allow yourself to grow beyond the struggles you can’t control.

Once you get your attitude in check the battle becomes much easier. Win the fight over your attitude and the rest become much simpler.
